Clothing is one of those things that we are quite familiar with but can face quite the challenge when it comes down to draw it.
Possibly all of us have worn a hoodie at one point or another, but if you are someone who’d ever tried to draw one, you may have discovered that it’s harder than it looks!
With this easy step-by-step guide on how to draw a hoodie in just 7 steps, you’ll get to know that it doesn’t have to be hard at all!
How to Draw A Hoodie – Let’s begin!
Step 1 — Let’s begin with the neck portion of the hoodie
Let’s begin with this guide on how to draw a hoodie, with the part of the garment that covers the neck.
This will be quite an easy step, and we shall draw in the neck by drawing in a sharply curved line that will look like the one in our reference image. With that drawn curve, we can move on to the next step!
Step 2 — Next, start with the arms of the hoodie
With the neck part drawn in, you can now work on the arms of your hoodie drawing. For drawing the arm on the left, simply make a line from just above where the left side of the neck ends.
The line for this arm will curve sharply before heading up towards the neck again. With that arm drawn, you can then repeat the procedure except mirrored on the right-hand side.
Step 3 — Next, let’s add a body to the hoodie
Now that you have the neck and arms done, you can work on the body of your hoodie drawing! This is another step that shouldn’t be too difficult if you have made it this far!
Using the reference image as a guide, the curved line for the body of the hoodie will start from under the arm.
It will nearly touch the top of the arm line, but there should be a little gap between the lines. The body of the hoodie will mold on a fairly rectangular shape, and will start and end under the arms.
While the shape of the body will be vaguely rectangular, make sure to have a slight curve at the corners of the hoodie.
Step 4 — Add in some more features for your hoodie
In the fourth step of our guide on how to draw a hoodie, we will be adding in even more details to it.
Firstly, a hoodie would be a bit pointless if it didn’t have a pocket area for your things or hands to go through! We don’t want this to be a pocket less hoodie, so let’s add pockets to your hoodie drawing.
The shape for the pockets will be inwardly curved at the sides, but end in a straight line connecting at the bottom of the hoodie.
Now that you have this pocket part of the hoodie ready, we shall add an elastic band to the bottom of the hoodie. To do this, simply draw in some straight lines over the bottom line of the body and to the ends of the arms of your hoodie.
Once it looks like the reference image, you’re good to go for some further details!
Step 5 — Next draw the hood
Let’s begin with the portion of the garment that it gets its name from: the hood! This will be quite an easy step, and we shall draw in the hood by drawing sharply curved lines that will end up looking like the ‘V’ shape as shown in our reference image. Double outline the V shape by drawing curves at the sides parallel to it and connecting with the initial V shape border. With that drawn, we can move on to the next step!
Step 6 — Add patterns and logo over the hoodie
In this step, we will draw a logo on the upper middle portion of the body of the hoodie.
Just follow the reference image, and copy the logo design, or you can add any logo of your choice to your hoodie drawing. We have chosen the Nike logo.
After drawing the logo print on the hoodie, add some vertical lines to the bottom of the hoodie and to the ends of arms as shown in the reference image.
Step 7 — Finish off your hoodie drawing with some pretty colors
The hoodie is completely drawn, the final details have been put on and you’ve reached the final step of this guide on how to draw a hoodie!
