Everyone has seen the most common pet dog in their house or in their friend’s or neighbor’s home, The Pug. Significantly known for their thick, lumpy body full of muscles and one among all the dwarf breeds of dogs, Pug has been featured in many television shows, films, and advertisements. But did you know that this breed originated in China?
Today we will draw our own pug. It may look a bit complicated to you at first but don’t worry, we are here with our step-to-step guide to your rescue!
How to Draw A Pug– Let’s Start!
Step 1 — Outline the edges of the face
We will first draw an irregular round face of our pug with a free hand.
Step 2 — Head to the neck portion
Then we will draw some small incomplete arcs and creases to outline the neck portion of the pug. Take the reference of the image shown below.
Step 3 — Draw the lumpy body of the pug
Now again with free hands draw curved lines with a sharp joint at the back to form the back portion of the pug.
Step 4 — Draw the front limb
Draw an irregular line starting from the left side of the neck elongated downwards and then deeply curved inside with an open end.
This will form the front limb and paw of the pug.
Also, turn the open end at the right side with a sharp inside curve as shown in the picture below.
Step 5 — Outline the stomach portion
Now just lightly hold your pencil and draw a curve tangentially to the front limb. Do not join the ends from either side. You can refer to the image shown below for better clarity.
Step 6 — Draw the other limbs and add a tail
Start drawing another front limb by outlining a long curve forming the paw in between the gap visible in front.
Draw a small closed arc at the back to form an illusion of the other two limbs.
Next, we will add a cute tail. Draw a comma-shaped structure with a broad at the end attached to the body and tapered at the other end in air.
Step 7 — Draw the ears of the pug
Now we will add two flaps-like structures forming ears to our pug. Using the free hand draw the irregular structure as shown in the picture below.
Step 8 — Add eyes, nose and mouth
Draw two irregular circles and draw two smaller regular circles within them. Now fill the gap between the two peripheries with black.
Draw creases between the eyes to add some details.
Now draw a small inverted triangle with curved corners to form the nose.
Draw two flaps-like structures with some distance between them to form a mouth significant to the pug.
Step 9 — Add details
Draw some tiny spots inside the flap-like structure forming the mouth of the pug.
Step 10 — Fill in the colours
We are done with drawing our pug and we will fill shades of brown colour to make our pug more attractive.
