How to Draw A Leaf – Let’s get Started!
Step 1 — let’s begin with the stem portion of the leaf
We shall start off this guide on how to draw a leaf by drawing in the outline of the stem of the leaf first. To do this, we will be using two lines that start at the same point connected to a common baseline, extending in such a way that it curves out to meet at a point.
The reference image given as an illustration will guide you on how this should look.
Step 2 — Now add half of the leaf on one side
In the second step of this guide on how to draw a leaf, we will break out the whole leaf drawing int0 two parts so that it gets easy to draw a beautiful leaf. We will draw them one by one.
Firstly, we will draw one part of the leaf as shown in the reference image.
For drawing this, we will be using a half-curved circle that starts from the near-to-left endpoint of the stem and then curve it out, and then back in to meet near the right endpoint of the stem.
Step 3 — Next, complete the leaf by drawing its other side
This step will be easy for you as we already did in the previous step. So all you need to do in this step is to repeat the previous step and complete the leaf drawing.
The reference image given in this step will instruct you on how this should look.
Step 4 — Now add details to one side of the leaf
Detailing is important to give the leaf its texture and to make it look realistic.
So in order to add some details to form the texture of the leaf, we will draw curved lines at equal distances to each other extending out of the same baseline that will be the stem.
Look at the reference image so you can comprehend easily and be able to understand what we actually mean.
Step 5 — Add final details to the leaf
Repeat the previous step and add the final touch-up to your leaf drawing.
Draw curved lines from the same point where the previously drawn lines came out.
You can improvise your leaf drawing by adding more details or different shapes to it.
Step 6 — Finish off your leaf drawing with some pretty and vibrant colors
We are sure that it’s been a lot of fun drawing a leaf alongside you, but there’s still one more step in this guide that is more fun to do!
Your leaf needs some pretty colors now, and you have a great array of options at your disposal.
Leaves can be pretty much any color you can assume, that’s why it gives you a huge range of shades to draw from as you complete this guide on how to draw a leaf.
You can make a lovely green leaf like the illustration that we used in this guide. You could also make it an adorable Fall leaf by coloring it yellow, orange, or red.
You don’t even need to keep it looking realistic if you want to use your favorite choice of colors! You can color it in with blues, pinks, or purples if you prefer!
Another interesting idea you could try if you would like to be extra crafty would be to find some crunchy, brown leaves outside if it’s the right time of year.
You can crunch them up, spread a thin layer of glue over the leaf and then use the crunched-up leaf to bring some real texture to your drawing!
